A word from Rory…
I first got into yoga and breath work after being diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis at 20. At the time, I was close to giving up hockey altogether. My body felt broken, and I couldn’t see a way forward. Through consistent practice, I found that yoga and breath work not only helped me manage pain and recover faster, but also gave me a way to keep performing at a high level. Within a year, I went from nearly quitting to earning my first England caps.
That’s why I’m passionate about sharing these tools with others, especially hockey players. I know most club players aren’t looking to train like full-time athletes - but the truth is, the same issues crop up: stiff hips, sore lower backs, tight hamstrings. If yoga can take away that stiffness and help you feel good enough to play your weekend match without soreness, that’s already a massive win.
In this session, I’ll share some practical, simple movements that target the hips, hamstrings, glutes and lower back. These are the areas hockey players put under the most stress. The focus is on leaving you with a few tools you can actually use straight away to move better, recover quicker, and enjoy your hockey more.
